How legally prepared is your business?
Answer a short set of questions tailored to your business, and we’ll review your website too. You get a rating across six areas of business law and a practical action plan you can start on this week.
Three steps
Tell us about your business
Industry, size and five quick yes/no questions. These decide which of the 40 questions you see. If you have no employees, you skip the employment section.
Answer what applies
Each question has a “Not sure” option. Not knowing is useful information too, and it goes on your list of things to confirm.
Get your results
An overall rating, a score for each category, an AI review of your public website, and a prioritized action plan. All of it is free.
Six areas of business law
Contracts & Agreements

Regulatory Compliance
Licenses, permits, industry rules, audits and enforcement history.
Intellectual Property
Trademarks, patents, IP ownership in worker agreements and enforcement.
Employment & Labor
Handbooks, workplace policies, worker classification and wage-and-hour rules.
Data Privacy & Security
Privacy policy, privacy laws, breach readiness and vendor data agreements.
Corporate Governance
Entity standing, records, insurance, litigation and code of conduct.
A familiar letter grade, backed by a score
Your overall score (0–100) maps to a letter grade from A+ to F, and we always show both, for example B+ (88/100). It measures how many common legal safeguards are in place. It is not a credit rating and doesn’t predict whether you will be sued.
Each band is split into +, plain and − (for example B+ 87–89, B 83–86, B− 80–82). Full table on the methodology page.
Results you can act on
- Your rating and category scores, showing where you are strong and where the gaps are.
- A website legal review covering your privacy policy, terms, cookie and tracking disclosures, accessibility statement and business identification.
- A prioritized action plan, written in plain English. Many items you can handle yourself.
- A downloadable PDF certificate with a verification link.
If you’d like help with any item, you can contact Business Legal Management LLC. That’s entirely optional, and your plan works the same with any advisor.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The assessment, rating, website review, action plan and certificate are free. There is nothing to buy and no payment details are ever requested.
How long does it take?
Five to fifteen minutes. A few opening questions about your business remove the questions that don’t apply to you, so a solo consultant answers far fewer than a 200-person company.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You get a private link to your results, which you can bookmark or download as a PDF certificate.
Is this legal advice?
No. It is a structured self-assessment that points out common gaps. It does not replace advice from an attorney who knows your business.
What happens to my information?
We use it to produce your results. Business Legal Management LLC can see submissions, but will only contact you if you tick the box asking for it. We never sell your information. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
What does the website review look at?
We read your public homepage and any linked privacy, terms, cookie, accessibility and contact pages. We check for common legal elements such as an accurate privacy policy, terms of use, cookie disclosures, accessibility and business identification. We never log in or submit forms.
Who is behind this?
Business Legal Rating is built and run by Business Legal Management LLC, a management consulting company in Dallas, Texas. It is not a law firm, and the tool does not provide legal advice. Your action plan is yours to use with any advisor you choose.
